Tisch Abelow, LP

In a world that can feel overwhelming, therapy offers a rare space for steadiness, reflection, and deeper connection. Many people begin therapy feeling lonely, stuck, confused, angry, or caught in painful, familiar patterns. Therapy not only provides relief, but also an opportunity to better understand yourself — your inner world, your relationships, and the past experiences that shape your present.

You don’t have to do this alone. As a psychoanalytic therapist, I view emotional struggles as meaningful communications rather than problems to fix. Together, we listen for what’s underneath. Through curiosity and exploration of your conscious and unconscious life, we create room for discovery, acceptance, and agency. It’s never too late to grow.

I provide attuned, confidential care to individuals facing a wide range of concerns, from depression and anxiety to grief, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and abuse. My practice is inclusive of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds.

About Me

I am a licensed psychoanalyst and artist living in New York City. I hold a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MA from the New York Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, and I completed my clinical training at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies. During my training, I interned at The Living Museum at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, working with artists living with mental illness.

My research has been recognized with the Rose F. McAloon Award for Excellence for my thesis, Shadowing in Place: A Psychoanalytic Study of the Double in the Transmission of Intergenerational Trauma, as well as the Phyllis W. Meadow Award for Excellence in a Final Research Project for my paper Water Bear on the Moon: Dissociation and Hope.
